3500 Internal Barriers are intrinsically safe interfaces thatprovide explosion protection for transducer systemsconnected directly to the 3500 Machinery Protection System.The internal barriers are fully compatible with the 3500System and provide a convenient and cost-effective solutionfor installing all types of transducer systems within ahazardous area.The internal barriers for a 3500 rack areincorporated in special Monitor I/O Modules.These barriers provide explosion protection fortransducer systems that are connected to the3500 system. An intrinsically safe (IS) earthingmodule provides the IS earth connectionthrough the 3500 system backplane.The IS Earth Module requires a dedicated I/Omodule position and precludes the use of thismonitor position for other 3500 Systemmodules. This limits a standard 19-inch rack to13 monitor positions. Furthermore, a number ofinstallation options are not available wheninternal barriers are installed in a 3500 rack.
