The new DeltaV™ Network “Smart” switches are the nextgeneration in the use of commercial off-the-shelf (COTS)components in control systems. Called “purpose-built”commercial components, these switches combine the lowercost of off-the-shelf components with DeltaV specific softwareand features to make them more integrated and plug-and-playin the DeltaV Area Control Network (ACN) and other DeltaVnetworks external to the ACN.DeltaV Smart Switches require no configuration to function inthe DeltaV networks. Accessing the advanced features takesonly minor configuration that is easy to perform using theDeltaV Network Device Command Center to ensure all smartswitches on the network are configured consistently andsecurely you can’t incorrectly configure any switching functionsthat impact the performance of the DeltaV system.
